High definition television (HD) is becoming extremely popular and both companies are making an effort to include plenty of HDTV programming in their line-ups. With each company you can get the necessary HDTV equipment, though Dish Network in offers their HDTV equipment for free with certain programming subscriptions. You will also find a large difference in the amount of high definition television programming you can access. Direct TV is lagging behind in HDTV programming with a selection of about 11 channels. These do include 2 premium movie channels, locals, and more movie and sports channels for an entertaining selection. Dish Network however has 31 HDTV channels. This makes it the top choice for people who really want the most high definition programming available.
